What is Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan (Self-reliant India Mission)

The PM has announced the Atma-nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan or Self-reliant India Mission. Later on, an economic package worth Rs 20 lakh crore or 10% of India’s GDP in 2019-20 was launched that aimed towards achieving this mission. The package is focused on land, labour, liquidity and laws.
PM said that a self-reliant India will stand on five pillars
1) Economy, which brings in quantum jump and not incremental change
2) Infrastructure, which should become the identity of India
3) System, based on 21st-century technology-driven arrangements
4) Vibrant Demography, which is our source of energy for a self-reliant India and
5) Demand, whereby the strength of our demand and supply chain should be utilized to full capacity

What is Defence Testing Infrastructure Scheme (DTIS)?

  • Defense Testing Infrastructure Scheme (DTIS) is launched to give a boost to domestic defense and aerospace manufacturing sector.
  • The scheme is launched by Defense Ministry
  • The central government will be funding up to 75 percent in the form of ‘Grant-in-Aid’ for the projects under this scheme.
  • The scheme would run for the duration of five years and have been allocated with an outlay of Rs 400 crore


What is Mission Sagar?

  • SAGAR stands for Security and Growth for All in the Region.
  • The mission is being executed by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
  • In this mission, Indian Naval Ship (INS) Kesari went for Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, Madagascar, and Comoros, to supply and distribute Food Items, COVID related Medicines including HCQ Tablets and Special Ayurvedic Medicines with Medical Assistance Teams among the mentioned countries.


Vizag Gas Leak: What is Styrene Gas?

  • Styrene gas was leaked in a chemical plant LG Polymers industry in the RR Venkatapuram village, Andhra Pradesh on 7 May.
  • Styrene is the main raw material for synthesis of polystyrene.
  • It is a toxic and flammable liquid that is widely used in the synthesis of polystyrene plastics.
  • Styrene is also prsent in vehicle exhaust, cigarette smoke and in some natural foods like fruits and vegetables.
  • styrene is classified as a toxic and hazardous chemical as per Hazardous Chemicals Rules, 1989

What is G7 Group?


  • Recently G7 group is in news as the United States has joined Group of Seven (G7) to establish ethical guidelines for the use of artificial intelligence to counter China’s dominance.
  • The Group of Seven (G7) is an international intergovernmental economic organization which consists of the seven largest economies in the world. These are Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States
