Know about Jason-CS Mission and Sentinel-6 Satellite
Copernicus Sentinel-6 Michael satellite was launched from the Air Force base in California by a SpaceXFalcon 9 rocket.
Sentinel-6-Satellite will be a part of the mission called Jason-CS Mission with its objective to measure changes in the global sea level, water vapour distribution and monitor El Niño and La Niña.
The satellite will throw a series of pulses to the Earth’s surface and measure how long they take to return to it, the mechanism will be used in measuring the sea surface height.
The mission is a joint co-operation of The European Space Agency (ESA), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (Eumetsat), the USA’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the European Union (EU) and France’s National Centre for Space Studies (CNES).
